I am working with a large assembly with large sub-assemblies. When I turn off of those sub-assemblies, my view won't automatically update and I have had to save the file, close it and then reopen it. Is there a refresh view command that I can use instead?

Try holding down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and hit the Q key. That does a full rebuild.
Don't rely to heavily on ctrl Q - a few times just this morning it didn't do a clean rebuild and I have noticed that before, seems at times it times out or something, even if you use ctrl Q, just double check that the changes followed through..

CNTR+Q if a forced rebuild that rebuilds everything. There are no icons or menu options out of the box so you have to use CNTR+Q. I do it out of habit now.
