If I wanted to simulate the effect of a hydraulic linear actuator (piston) on an assembly with a maximum for of 2kN, what would the correct magnitude/s be?
Would I apply 2kN at both the rod connection and at the clevis mount (action and reaction) as shown by the purple arrows in the image attached? I would it be 1kN at each end?
This is pretty simple and I think I have done a bit of overthinking and gotten myself confused! Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Look at your FBD (if you haven't made one, do it now.) Fx=Fy=M=0
Yes, it is 2kN on each contact point along the vector defined by the axis of the actuator.
