So when I created my administrative image it asked me for a serial number, so I used my serial number. But the other computers I want to install the image on have different serial numbers, so will it ask me to input those when I go to install?
This is where the administrative image options editor comes into play. After you've created your administrative image, you can specify which computers SolidWorks is installed on and which serial number applies to each computerThe options editor is in the root folder of the administrative image:
In the options editor you have a default serial number and settings and a list of machines. Each machine can use either the default serial number and settings (for network and bundle licensing) or can override those settings.
The machine names match the machine ID found in Windows Computer Properties
when you run the install on a computer, it uses the settings and serial number corresponding to its machine ID in the Option Editor.
They do a good job of explaining this in the online help for the option editor.
No it won't ask. So once image is created, you can edit it and remove the number you've added in and when installing on other computers, just change/add the serial number in the image.
Thanks for reminding that, I almost forgot about that
Thanks guys. I did my first install via administrative image today, went very smooth with your help!
