delete/hide/rename file that the DriveWorks is using at the moment, and when u start it, it should ask u for locating the file as it can't find it - then u can select that new one.
PS> I'm guessing you're using DriveWorksXpress as this are the limitation in free version. (and there are others too)
that is strange, i just did that file rename/replace on my old driveworksexpress file, and it worked without a problem.
That is really strange.
Okay just to make it clear. My part file name was originally abc.sldprt.
My DriveWorksXpress is properly set up, and then now i would like to change my part file name to def.sldprt.
I renamed my abd.sldprt to def.sldprt.
So I launch my DriveWorks, it can't find the file and ask me to locate it.
But I can only browse to the file with the name abc.sldprt, it can never change the file to def.sldprt. Are you doing the same thing as I did?
BTW, I'm using SW2015.
sorry, i tought you wan't to change the database file namd the *.mdb.
I can't remeber if you can change sldprt/slddrw file names, but what u can do is copy whole set of files of your driveworks to another location and use it from there without changing name (i know it's not ideal), just remeber before starting driveworks from new location move original ones somewhere else - otherwise it will use those files and won't let u to point to new file location.
I think replacing files is also limitation for xpress version.
PS> what u can do is to request trial version of DriveWorks solo - which as far as i remember they supply with 1month trial licence (full)
The only solution I found is to edit from the mdb file and change the file name to the new file name accordingly.
