I am hoping to create a block that's length is based on the perimeter of a block. Is there any equation I can use to do this?
See attachment. I created an extrusion based loosely on the image you provided. In Sketch 2 I did a Convert Entities as construction lines, then did a path length dimension (driven).
Then I linked the path length to a global variable I created, then another global variable based on the equation you provided, then linked the slot length to the second global variable.
So you would input the width and perimeter?
How do I grab the value of the perimeter so that when I change the size of the perimeter the width of the block changes accordingly.
It's possible but you have to create the adequate equation yourself.
Okay so the equation I need is ( ((The Perimeter x .025) /.25)/2)
Does the block have equal sides?
I Need the perimeter of the highlighted face to change the length(Sorry I said width before) Shown by the dimension with the 1.00.
The only way I can think of would be to dimension the length of each line of the perimeter and create an equation adding them up. Then you can use that value to alter the Length however you'd like.
Yeah that's what I was hoping I wouldn't have to do. Wish there was a file property or something
There are Sensors you can use to give you the perimeter but there is no way to link them to anything as far as i know.
Looks like my equations lost a link, I need to brush up on how to use them as I rarely do. This approach should get you there.
that might be it! Ill test it out thanks!
