is there an "instantiation" feature like CATIA

Does Solidworks have something similar to CATIA's "instantiation" feature:

- set up a 'typical model' with input geometry (planes, points etc...) and parameters

- open a new file which has the input geometry referenced in and the parameters referenced in

- instantiate the 'typical model' into the new file by feeding it the input geometry and parameters

Useful because: Sometimes the principles of how a part builds itself stays the same, but the locations / dimensions / other features of the input geometry may change between parts.

Is there anything like this in Solidworks?
