I am trying to create a 3D model of a wavy washer, and try as i may, my colleagues and i cannot think of a satisfactory way of creating this part.
The logical solution is to generate a sweep feature, but creating the 'wavy' profile is almost impossible. Another solution which we tried, was to create a cylinder of the correct internal & external diameters, and also overall height, and make an extruded cut in 3 planes.
This gives the closest part to the wavy washer, but not very accurate.

Is there a way of drawing the spring in a 'developed' format and then forming around the diameter? This would seem a good way of getting the correct profile.
