Parametric dimensions in Solidworks with tolerances HOW???

I'm pretty fed up with Solidworks insert model items command because 95% of the time I never get the dimensions I want in the views I want. I'm also tired of the "smart" dimensions that have absolutely no parametric data like tolerance information. Lord forbid you purchase a parametric drawing tool and actually want the dimensions to be parametric. Does anyone know of a work around? For example can I put a "smart dimension" and have it reference dimension1@sketch2 or something of the sort? I know in Pro/E you can reference the model dimensions by typing in the dimensions number. Has anyone figured out how to do this in SW?
