Mold Tools

I've been taking a more manual approach to my mold designs since I started using SolidWorks, and just decided to give the mold tools a try. I am having decent luck, but I think I am stuck at a point where I need avvice.

I completed my part design, added shrink, created a parting line, shut-off surfaces, and parting surface. I then created a tooling split as well, and that seemed to work fine.

Now, I have everything I need yet don't really know where to go from here. I have a core and cavity available to me due to the tooling split, but how do I utilize them in my mold design? I don't know how far I go in the part file, or how to reference the core and cavity in another file. When do I do my water lines, cavity mount holes, etc? I feel as if I should be working in a seperate file now.

I know all of this is elementry, but I want to be able to use this functionality and I don't understand it beyond this point. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Outcomes
