Expand Sub Assembly in BOM

Hello All
I have a top level assembly with different subassemblies in it. In the BOM I would like to expand just a couple of the subassemblies so they show up as single item parts.
In the Bill of Material properties you an select Parts only but that will expand all sub assemblies.

Michael,

Open the sub-assemblies that you do NOT want to expand, go to the configuration properties and check the box for "don't show child components when used as a sub-assembly". This assembly will show up as one item even in a "parts only" BOM

    I'm pretty sure that if you expand the Indented BOM with the little arrow on the left edge then you will be able to select to show individual sub assemblies as stand alone or with children.

      Hi,
      
      I have a sub-assembly which is epanded and, for some reason, It dosn't colapse.
      I used the Joel's tip concerning the configuration properties and it is showed as a part in the BOM but it's baloon shows * as a part number.
      
      I believe it's a bug since a new BOM allowschanging this sub-assy's state.
      
      any idea, except creating a new BOM? (I did a lot of work there and its long)

        I'm not figuring this out either.
        
        Our mfg BOMs use "phantoms"....and I am trying to simulate this....being able to expand select subs would be very helpful.

        Thanks, Joel. I had just come to this forum to ask the same question that Michael had. I had never thought to go to configuration properties of a sub-assembly with no configurations other than default. This works perfectly for me.
        
        I was getting ready to use phantoms as another poster just mentioned, but this is much cleaner.
