I need to install the EPDM client on several machines and wanted to make sure that it is not a prerequisite to set the user up in EPDM Server first. Thanks
It is not a prerequisite to set up users on PDM server to install pdm client application. You can use the admin user to create vault views on clients machines.

If I wanted to change that to a named user later on the client they would just need to sign in with that new user right?
Correct. Once you have users defined in the Admin tool (make sure you assign them to groups and set permissions per group - much easier to administer) then they can log in using that account.
Just be aware that if you log in as the Admin account, which usually has elevated permissions compared to normal users, all of the folders and files that the Admin account will be in their local vault view (blueberry). Might have to clear local cache before you log out as Admin.
