I need to create a rolled cylinder with sheet metal. It has a small gap. How can I add weld in Solidworks?
For visuals I would model it, rather than try the SW weld
Make your rolled cylinder as a base flange, then select insert/weld bead from the menu. there are two ways to select the location of the weld bead, they both work.
I already tried what you said. But it always give me error message " Rebuild error: Failed to create weld bead due to invalid selection/data". Which surface did you select? By the way, I am using Solidworks 2014. Thanks.
You may be stuck. Last month I had to remove a weld bead from an assignment, because the students couldn't get it done in an older version, even though it was very easy for me in 2015. The situation was identical to this, and the problem had to do with both sides of the weld being the same face.
In 2015, both of these ways work, but the first one gets the bead centered, which is kind of nice.
