Hello - I'm using Solidworks v. 2016, I know it's petty, but is there an option to turning off the 'Orientation' dialog box from showing up in the model every time I hit the Spacebar?
I'm not in SW2016 but just hit the icon after the spacebar is selected.
Right Click over toolbar area, select Customize
Go to Keyboard tab, sort the Shortcut(s) column and you can remove Spacebar as the hotkey.
Thanks, but doing that removes the ability to also have the orientation box of my part show up. I'm just wanting to remove the orientation dialog box. Like what John (see above) picture is reflecting.
When you hit the spacebar and the icon for the box is turned off, you won't see it all the time AND when you do want to see it, you select it.
That is the View Selector command = CTRL+Spacebar
What do you use the spacebar for? I only hit the spacebar in Solidworks when I want to orient my part, so I'm curious as to what your use is for the spacebar.
It sounds if he does just that John. He hits the spacebar to orient his views and doesn't want the "Box" to show up.
Excellent! If this is the answer, please hit the answer key so I can get more beer points :-)
Well it's correct that when I hit spacebar, I don't want that box to show up. But it doesn't solve my issue...I don't want that box to show up, period.
Confused... Do you want nothing to happen when you hit the spacebar?
So you're understanding the same thing I am. Good!
That is correct, it shows the orientation of my part, but I still have the dialog box show up. I know it's a tiny issue, but there has to be a way to turn that off. Or just relocate it to a designated area off screen.
I'm an old dog when it comes to SW and I use the view orientation menu in it's older style menu persistently pinned in my SW view just under and to the right of my FM by using the double carrot to the right of the orientation icon
- i.e. I "pin" it so that I always have it available for using "normal to" and picking a view orientation with one mouse click.
In this mode i never have to deal with the newer orientation method.
Similar to what Mark Biasotti posted, but I have icons for all the ones I use. I can orient my model to any of the standard views with one click, and I don't have to touch my keyboard.
OK. I think I understand now.
I do not know of a way to turn it off when you hit spacebar.
Work around would be to create keyboard shortcuts of the different orientations like what I believe Jason was alluding too. I like to use ISO to regain my bearings so I have customized Ctrl+D to bring my model back to ISO front orientation. Orientation box does not show up when I do that.
I don't use the orientation feature much since all of it is on my 3D mouse (spacepilot pro)
I think I had the same complaint, I have used the advice above to swap the two commands round, now space bar shows only view cube, and control space shows orientation box.
