Inventor VS Solidworks

Hi
I m new to Solidworks... I've been working on Inventor for 2 years.
I need to update myself about parametrics. In inventor, its easy and direct. I create a Spreadsheet and link a cell to a Dimension... Simple point and click.
Now my problem is that I want to do the same in Solidworks(new Job lol) and even worst... its a French version!
I used to start a part in Inventor and call it parameter. Then i would use it as a derived component in assemblies and other parts to manage a whole assembly.
That way I could either open the Spreadsheet with all the variable in it or open my Parameter file and modify the assembly there.
I see the potential in Solidworks but it is a lot less User-friendly compared to Inventor.
I have used Solidworks for 3 months now, so i have the basic functions understood... now i need ADVANCE!!! héhéhéhé
Thanks for taking the time to read and help me with this issue.
