Inserting nuts from Toolbox into a slot within an Assembly

Hello everyone,

In the below photo is a transparent side panel, and a horizontal panel attached to it. There is a bolt passing through the side panel and into the horizontal panel.

The slot circled in red is used to retain the nut of the bolt.

The bolt is from the Toolbox, as will be the nut.

I'm not sure what to select in order to make the insert function of the Toolbox work. I've tried many combinations, and the nut always comes up at the origin of the assembly.

Can anyone give me some pointers on what I should use as selections when importing from the Toolbox?

You need to apply mates - Top of the Nut and Top of the Slot and Concentric to the Socket Head Bolt.... There should be some smart mate references in the nut, so when you insert hover over the Bolt and see if it wants to snap into a concentric position...

unfortunately, I'm trying to not need mates, as i have hundreds of these to insert. When you insert from the toolbox, all you need is to select an edge and it will take the diameter of the hole and insert the correct sized bolt for you, without the need of any manual mating. I thought that maybe selecting the edge of the bolt and the top of the slot would infer automatic mates and make my job easier as i could just select two faces, 'insert' and repeat.

Luke Tansell, I don't think you are going to get everything you want, but you can look into "Copy with Mates". Since you are mating a nut coincident with a part face and concentric to a bolt it is not what the smart mates is looking for, but Copy with Mates might be a benefit for you.

If it is a combination of a bolt and nut (or even an additional washer or two) you are placing multiple times you might consider mating the first set of these items then making them all a subassembly. You might want to set it to "flexible" so the screw head can be mated coincident to one surface and the nut face can be mated coincident to another, but the advantage of this is that you can place a whole fastener set with only three mates (coincident and concentric for the bolt, coincident for the nut). If you were to do the bolt and nut separately it would be at least four mates. Any additional items, such as washers, would be at least two mates each, so the economy and benefit of the fastener subassembly becomes readily apparent.
