Is there a way to extract usable data from a SoildWorks file that has an imported Graphics body? (i.e. from an STL)

Question asked by Martin Behling on Jul 8, 2016

I have a SolidWorks file where someone opened an STL file (as a graphics body, rather than surface or solid body), and saved the file as a SolidWorks part.

Since it was imported as a graphics body, it cannot be directly referenced, or manipulated, etc...nor can it be re-exported as STL, or another format.

The original STL data is unavailable.  Is there a way to make this graphics body data usable again? Either through export, or opening it in another software package, or...?

Let me know if anyone has a good way to do this...creative ideas welcome!

Thanks!
