how to create a drawing for a given part as cast and finished machined??

I have a solid work part..My question is how can i make a drawing for the same part "as cast" and "finished machined "

Correct Answer

I was given you three different approaches to solve the problem.

 

  1. Make 2 different configurations, one "as cast" and one "as machined" in you part file and place those views in your drawing.
  2. Make a "as cast" part file.  Make a "as machined" part file (blank) and insert the "as cast" part file into the "as machined".
  3. Make a "as cast" part file and then do an assembly.  This method doesn't give you as much freedom because the assembly level features are limited.
