Can I get solidworks to not use any sort of bend allowance? I want the distance to the bend line to be the same as the internal bend. this wil result in the flat pattern being the sum of all internal bends. Thanks
You are correct about your result but it will not be real-world. The k-factor and bend allowances are there to take into account the compression/expansion taking place thru various materials when formed on particular presses, etc.
If I understand you correctly a k-factor of 0 will produce what you want. Did you want a macro to do this for you. (API)?
Dennis is exactly right a K-factor of 0 will cause the flat pattern to have the same length as the flanges + internal bends.
I'm not sure why you'd need a macro to do this, you can simply alter the properties of the initial sheet metal feature to adjust the whole feature tree.
If you wanted to always create parts like this, you could use a template which contains a sheet metal feature with the K-factor set to 0.
I thought the K-factor 0 would be the solution as wel, however if I do this and make an internal bend of 50mm I get 49,79mm in the flat pattern.
Interesting Wouter,,, If I make my arc 50mm long I get 50mm in my flat pattern. This is with a k-factor of 0
Edit:.. I should add that you need to make sure your material thickness is going to the outside of the arc.
