I am looking for someone with extensive knowledge of exporting complex 3D drawing into an OBJ format for video production.
The project I'm currently working on requires an accurate CAD model to be imported into MAYA for animation, but due to the sheer complexity of the machine itself, I need some help on someone who is knowledgeable in Solidworks who can work with our 3D animator in exporting STL file into OBJ file, and assist in correcting any issues with the file (incorrect vertices, mesh not translating correctly, etc.).
We need someone who owns Solidworks or have access to Solidworks, and can provide a quick turn around.
Being based in Northern California (or anyone in the PST) is a plus, but we can work online with anyone in the US/Canada.
This will be a US only job posting, as the project content will require signing a NDA.
I believe you are asking someone to produce .obj files from .stl out of Solidworks? Solidworks is not really the right application to deal with meshes. You can produce .obj directly from Solidworks files yourself with this macro Free Solidworks OBJ Exporter v2.0 . If your SW model has many parts you would break the mission down to several .obj and combine those in Maya i.e. hide all but a group of parts in turn when you use the macro. As far as I know there are no issues with verts, normalspositioning etc using this macro. Hope that helps.
BTW If you have .stl already then just about any cg app like Maya, Max or Blender should be able to import .stl directly and if necessary export again as .obj., stl does not carry colour information though.
