i have same question . i have two near identical parts that are different with a hole . Is there a way to combine these two parts on the BOM?
i know i can delete that hole and make that in assembly (instead of part) .
I think your question is different. The original question wants to take 2 completely different parts and combine them to a single line, qty 1. Sounds like you want to take 2 very similar parts and combine to a single line, qty 2.
You need to make your parts the same file, just different configurations. You can then play with the configuration grouping options on the BOM to get what you want. Please see B.O.M. - PART CONFIGURATION GROUPING
Also, even though this is an ancient thread, since it's been resurrected I'll add that my preferred way to do the OP's request (not yet listed) is to create a subassembly of the two fan parts. Then, use a "parts only" bom (not top-level only). For every subassembly that should be grouped as a single line item in the BOM, go to the subassembly's configuration properties and select "Hide" from the "Child component display when used as a subassembly" group.

Deleting the hole from one Part would certainly be one option, and not a bad one. Another option would be to have two configurations of your Part, one with the hole and one without, and then set your BOM as shown below. Of course if you have other with multiple configurations that you want shown separately then this won't work.
insert the fan sub-assy into your main assembly.
make the fan sub-assy flexible so you can mate as if it were 2 parts.
