When accessing the vault from outside the company, our
vendors reach the login screen but then after entering login info
they get the "Server Error in '/PdmwSearch' Application" notice.
Please see the attached image.
I found two other posts about this from late last year, but there was no apparent resolution to either of them. One post suspected the cause to be SSL, but I have not enabled SSL on my system. I also have made sure all necessary ports are open. Port 80 is open and we opened 20,000, 30,000 & 40,000 to see if that was the problem, but there was no change in outside access.
The workaround we have been using is to direct the vendors to the following URL:
http://server_IP_address/pdmweb/frame.html
This takes them to the classic portal.
Inside the company, we can access pdmweb by using this URL:
http://server_name/pdmweb
This method performs as it should. If we use the IP address, however, we cannot log in to the search portal.
I need to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem. Our VAR is stumped, and has not come up with a solution.
I would also like to hear from anyone who is publishing the pdmweb vault outside their intranet and is not having this problem. My suspicion is that perhaps most PDMworks users do not publish externally, so this problem is not widely known.

First, on your server, select the Start menu, RMB on my computer and select manage. Under Services and Applications>IIS>RMB on Application Pools and selct Properties. Select the identiy tab. What account are you using? Try Local System.
Secondly, under IIS>Websites>Default Website>RMB on PDMweb and select Properties. Selct the Directory Security tab and then edit. Make sure the user name is located under IIS>Websites>Default Website>RMB on PDMWSearch and select permissions.
Let em know how that goes?
