Saving Appearances Inconsistent

I've been playing with appying and saving appearances out of and back into PV. In the latest instance I had alot of Parts hidden when I saved. I opened the same file. Those parts that were hidden now reappeared, but not with the appearances assigned before they were hidden. Some parts that were not hidden Plus some that were hidden are not showing the latest PV applied appearances, but those that were applied in RV hours ago that had not shown up previously in PV. This is after many different appearances have been applied and changed in PV without going back into SW.
