I am trying to reproduce a simple 3 sided box in solidwork
and then make the flat pattern and send it to our water jet
machine. I am creating the model completely in the sheet metal
environment. I made a base flange then an edge flange for all 3
sides in one step. If a export the flat pattern the corners just
show up as sharp corners. It appears that the software does apply
some sort of relief in the corner but it does not show up in the
flat pattern. I have noticed that if you uncheck corner treatment
then it will show some sort of relief, more of a notch.
I tried to take the blank profile with bend lines and then bring it back into solidworks and rebend with sketchbend it and it will not work. I have many old autocad files/waterjet files. I would think that you should be able to rebend the flat part just like you would with a any blank shape in the realworld.
I have attached 3 files so show what I am doing.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to properly use the sheetmetal feature.
Thanks
Todd Davis
