Accurate handgun models needed

I am looking for some usuable 3d models of modern handguns. The external features would need to be accurate, but the internal parts and mechanism don't need to be present. I have modeled up several myself and would be willing to share them in exchange for any models I don't have. Models I have:

Glock 17,21,22,30,35,36,37,38,39
Sig 226,229,pro,2022,239
H&K USP,P2000,P30
S&W M&P 9mm,.40,.45,compact, 4566TSW, 5946
Beretta PX4 9mm,.45, 92, elite
Colt 1911, (Wilson and Springfield Operator)
Springfield XD (9mm, .40, .45)
Wather/S&W P99

non-handgun models:
Taser X26
AR15/M4
40mm Grenade Launcher

I need solid geometry I can work with, such as a Solidworks native file, IGES, Parasolid, etc. STL's wouldn't be of any use.

If anyone is interested, let me know.

I would upload several of my models, but you have already modeled them, the Glock and the USP, I have done a Thompson M1A1, and an AK-74 however your looking for Hand Guns...

I am aware of these models but I have never purchased any. I don't recall off hand if it's a purchase or swap site.

Not sure if you'll find or have a translator available since it looks like they will be stl otherwise.

Thanks for the reply's.

Yes, STL translation software is expensive, and I don't want to take the risk that it may not yield the results I need. We're a small operation

As far as any other rifle models, I would be willing to trade for those. We never know when their may be a need even thought semi-auto handguns are our bread and butter. I have to design a FN-FAL for a project coming up in Q4. Never thought I'd need that one. Let me know what you want to trade for the M1 and the AK.

Sadly, no. However, I just purchased one last week (by amazing coincidence) and will be modeling one up to design a holster system. I'll keep you posted.

Hello, I don't have much for solid models of handguns that you can't just get online, but I was wondering if it would be possible to get the model of the M&P40. I have been looking for a while for one. I mostly just need the slide. I may need to just break out the calipers . Thanks Matt.

Online models that are usable and importable into Solidworks are hard to come by. THe S&W M&P .40 I have is accurate around the slide for the outside dimensions. It isn't very detailed, but it may get you started. We have only a couple of finely detailed models you could actually machine a working firearm from. We are only interested in the "outer shell" dimensions as we design our holsters around that. The model is too big to post here, but I can export it as a parasolid or iges, zip it and email it to you. Let me know.

Thanks Matt. The file is largerer than 50 megs? Is the file a SW native file or a dumb solid? If possible I'd like to figure out how to get the SW file if possible, but I could settle for a parasolid or iges. Does this board have private messaging? Whatever you can do the easiest is fine with me. Thanks again.

Check 3DCC for the top end of a Springfield XD-40 Tactical I modeled. It is accurate up to the point I had to do major disassembly. As time permits I plan on doing a simplified grip (few internal mechanisms) to complete an assembly.

I am having issues with not all my assembly parts showing up though. The chamber indicator part doesn't show individually in 3dcc, and I made made extrustions to "fill" in the engravings similar to what I did with mine. None of those parts showed either.

Dear Matt:

I am also looking for reasonable accurate models of several popular hand guns (1911, Glocks, Beretta, Kel-Tec PF-9, CZ 75 P-01, Sp-01) and etc. I don't have any models to offer but I own a Kel-Tec PF-9, Walther P-22, and a CZ 75 P-01. I have a friend that recently had two vetebrae removed from his spine. He is a very good tig welder. However, I don't think he will be able or allowed to go back to his old position. I want him to learn Solidworks and since gun is his first love, I thought a little motivation would really help him to think about a career change. I want to help him design gun cases and special gun cases to hide weapon in the home. All I really need is reasonably accurate models so we can design cases for various pistols out there. I am hoping that you will help us. Your time is precious so perhaps I can send you several of my favorite bottles of my wine from my private collection as a token of our appreciation?

3D Content Central has most of the components to a 1911 style pistol available. I was able to collect and assemble enough to get a good rendering. There are even a few aftermarket type parts also like lightweight hammers.

I would also like to get my hands on a few models. I want to build a gun cabinet and it would be nice to custom fit some specific areas to individual pistols. I'm lookig for a good 1911, a Browning model 96 (or 92), a Ruger LCR, and a Ruger old army .45.

I need some long guns as well but I'll get to those later.

it is better to have a CAD model of a hangun and not need it than to need a CAD model of a handgun and not have it

I will give up my CAD models of handguns when they peel my cold dead fingers from around my mouse

when they take away CAD models of handguns away from registered SolidWorks users, only unregistered SolidWorks users will have CAD models of handguns

there are no dangerous CAD models of handguns, only dangerous viruses within CAD models of handguns

CAD models of handguns don't kill people, real handguns do

apologies to those not familiar with gun control debate in USA, the above will mean absolutely nothing to you

Would the models you have be of suitable dimensions in the gripframe area for building grips around? Clearly not the polymer items, but 1911, sigs, etc.

I have a complete, accurate 1911, and a few dumb-solid scanned models such as the XD-9mm, SIG250, M&P 9mm/.45, and the M4. I also have some semi-accurate models, that are complete in the areas we are concerned with, but have no detail in others. We are only interested in the overall size and shape of the handguns for our business, not so much the internal workings. That being said, our M4, and 1911 are complete with all of these things because we build many custom parts for these weapons.

These models are products of many hours work (even the dumb solids), so while I don't mind trading, simply giving them out would benefit neither myself, or my company. I don't mean to sound harsh, but when I first asked the question, I was hoping to generate a little swapping to save modelling and reverse engineering time for myself, and anyone else who may be involved with similar work. Anyone interested in a trade, I will be more than happy to arrange something. However, I can't just give them out. It wouldn't be fair to my employers.

Matt,
Fully understand the time and effort involved, and would not ask for you to provide anything without compensation. Was interested to know if the models you have created would be accurate enough to use for grips etc, as you mentioned the dimensions for holsters was your primary concern.
