Creating an Admin Image for upgrades for multiple users / serial numbers

We have 15 users on our network with their own standalone SolidWorks 2008 install / serial number and about 15 users that use a network license server. Instead of downloading 3+ GBytes of updates for every user to upgrade, it it possible to create a single admin image that either asks for the serial number every time you run it at a workstation, or one that can keep all the local serial numbers and ask which one to use?

We tried creating an admin image, it only asked for one serial number, and when we used it for upgrading several workstations they all ended up with the same serial. I just read about the "SolidWorks Admin Director Option Editor" where it asks for users and group info / serial numbers but the documentation isnt very clear. Whats a "user name" or "group" to an admin image when you're installing? Is it the user's network username / group or purely internal and available as a selection when you run the installer? Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.
