I have a component that I am always adding to an assembly. The component is called "Base.sldprt". The base starts out the same but gets changed in the context of the assembly. What I typically do is copy the base to the folder for the project and then change the name of the base to a unique name like "Tool12345 Base.sldprt". This way when I make changes to that particular base it does not change all the other bases used in all the other assemblies.

What I want to do is to build an assembly and do all the work that would always have to be done and save that and use it as the new starting point. How do I make sure that the changes that get done to the base inside the assembly do not affect the other "bases" used in other assemblies out there?
