Save or Export as DXF DWG Crashes Solidworks

Does anyone know why if I try and save a file or export as dxf that the system crashes? This functionality is important as we need the flat pattern for use in our waterjet system. This only happens in the part enviornment. If I place the flat pattern on a blank drawing sheet at a scale of 1:1 then I can save it as DWG. It would just be easier to export the flat pattern.

According to the SW 2008 help file Exporting as a DXF / DWG is not supported for parts and assemblies - Export is only possible from a drawing document.
I set up a blank drawing document with all the right attributes such as 1:1 scale and no hidden part lines and use that to quickly create my DXF profile exports.
How are you forcing SW to try to export a part as a DXF? ...and crash!

  SolidWorks added the capability in SW2008 to create dxf's of sheet metal flat patterns directly from the sldprt file. See page 12-13 of the SolidWorks 2008 What's New pdf.
  
  Great new functionality that I take advantage of everyday. You must have a sheet metal part. This will also work on a part with non uniform part thickness. Just add the sheetmetal feature at the end of your feature tree and you will be able to save a dxf.
  
  See attached. Do a File > Save As > dxf

    Thanks for re-correcting my post. This functionality works fine fo sheetmetal parts as you say.
    Todd, at this point I would get Your VAR involved. Create an RX report and forward the file to your VAR who would be able to independently test this problem for you.

      I spoke with my Var on Friday and was able to get solidworks to start "Fresh" by deleting a part in the registry. Now everything is working fine.

You can also use the Solidworks Task Scheduler to create all your dxf and dwg files in bulk. I like this better do to the fact that I can send multiple prints to be created at one time. (Make sure solidworks is not running) Doing it this way is quicker than opening it up in Solidworks and then saving.
