Is there a way to force unique filenames in the PDM vault? I
can't force unique part numbers as I want the Solidworks Drawing
and it's parent to have the same number.
PDMWE 2008: Admin tool -> File types -> select slddrw
etc, -> 'Do nto allow duplicate file names for this extension'.
PDMWE 2007 has a SQL function you need to edit. Details are in the
administration guide.
I am not sure if I have the admin guide. I have the PDMWE2007
Administrating PDMWorks Enterprise manual, not 2008. Would my VAR
provide the 2008 one for free?
There is a way to do it in a 2007 vault, however - the change is
global and impacts all file types. If you only want it to impact SW
files, then wait until 2008.
I'm assuming you downloaded the latest version of PDME. In which
case, find the directory where you extracted the software to and
browse for Support\Guides directory. (or browse the CD if you have
the CD)...
In 2008, open the PDMWorks Enterprise Administration tool. Right
click on File Types. Select Duplicate file name settings in the
pop-up menu. Make your desired choice in the dialog box shown in
the attachment and click OK.

We had training on 2007 right before the 2008 release.
