Defective Dongle?

I'm trying to do a client install but things are not going as planned. I didn't do the original network install so I'm not that familiar with it. I'm reading that I should have an option to select network license and put port@servername where the license resides. I never get this option.

I thought maybe the serial number I had was wrong and tried to find it on the server that the dongle resides on. Everything seems to work except

A. I can find a license number anywhere on this server

B. When I click "Modify" under License File, I get the following error:

lc_hostid() erro: Unknown FLEXlm error (0); (0,0,0)

If I click OK, I get the error

Could not read the dongle ID number.

Please remove then reinsert the dongle, making sure it is firmly connected on this computer then press Retry.

I've done this several times. Including removing and reinstalling the dongle license using the haspdinst utility through command prompt.

Any suggestions?
