Ok.. maybe i am missing something as I am not the best at
sheet metal but I need to make a name plate which has extruded text
and cut outs on it, bend to fit in its real life position; namely
on a cylinder in a working assembly.
making the flat item as we receive it from the manufacturer presents no problems, nor does making a curved part to take its place as a configuration, but if i can effectively roll the flat part and make it bent then I would be much happier.
Does anybody know a way of doing this?
Flat panel is 236mm by 90mm and is to fit on a cylinder that has an O.D. of 356.8.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks for taking the time to read this.
kind regards,
andy

Slots are no problem, but you will not be able to extrude the text and then bend it back as Solidworks has to have a uniform thickness in order to bend. You would have to extrude the text in the flat and then suppress it in the bent configuration.
