a bit of light relief......

for years I've assumed that the length of a slot (with round end) was the distance between the extreme arcs ie the overall length of the physical opening. This would be in keeping with the length of a slot with square/flat ends.
I've now seen it as the distance between the centres of the arcs.

So what is the length of a slot?
