How to install PDMWorks Add-In

I just installed Solid Works 2008 SP3.1. I also installed PDMWorks on to our server. I can connect to the PDM server using Solid Works Explorer but it says I can only check in solid works files through the Add-In inside Solid Works itself.

However, the PDMWorks Add-In does not show up in my add in menu. Is this add-in an extra option I have to buy or did I not install properly?

If you think you installed it wrong you can go to "Add or Remove Programs" in your control panel and select SWE the select "Change". Make sure you selected "Solidworks Explorer with PDMWorks Workgroup Addin" you shouldn't need a serial number if you have pro or above ver of SW. Click Next, answer question about desktop search click Next, Now check to see if you have Add-in client selected, if there is a red X next to this option it is not installed selet it to be installed in this case. Option install vaultadmin, if you do not have admin rights there is no need to install this option. finish install.

I seem to be having the same PDMW install problem with SP 3.1 in SW 2008! the SW 2008 vault service and explorer add-in seems to have installed just fine but i can not get the SW client version to install...even when using the "Change" in "Add/Remove Programs" and selecting the 'client add-in' and 'vault admin'(that are shown to be not installed)! the installation progress bar shows the 'explorer' install to 20% then makes an immediate jump to 83% and appears to miss the add-in and vault admin install? i have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the SW application with the same issues. i will check with my VAR in the morning.

    yes, my VAR was very helpful. actually ended up doing a ' repair' from add/remove programs, by selected to install the missing plug-in component. BUT, first I had to de-select the SW explorer component to uninstall SW explorer(with the PDW client) then re-ran the 'modify' program to re-select the explorer and PDMW SW add-in client at the same time. hope that helps. no idea why that worked but it did!

      I followed the advice, it didn't quite work, however I was able to capture an error message that I sent to my var to help solve. (which I'm sure they will be able to).
