New computer with slow Quaddro FX3700

Hi, I built a new computer this month (specs in signature) and am generally very pleased. The one area that is below my expectations is the video. The Vista performance index rates my video at 2.8. Rotating a 450 component model in Realview is unbearably slow. With Realview turned off it is just acceptable. Are my expectations just to high for the volume of video data I am moving around too high or have I possibly missed some configuration settings. I am using version 7.15.11.6939 drivers downloaded from the SW website for the video card. I have spent the last 10 days searching the web for ways to improve the video performance but I have not made any headway. Any ideas or suggestions?

Sounds like something really wrong there...
See mySig, I have FX3700 also, and same Driver..
But i'm running V64 Bus. rather than Ult..
Also, My Vista graphics score is 5.9

definately sounds like somethign not right..
I'd try uninstalling the Video Driver, and re-downloading and re-installing it..

My work PC is now running Vista, and I get a 4.8 with just a FX570. Something's not right...

I agree with Rich and Paul. There is a conflict somewhere in your system.

I get a 5.1 Vista Experience rating on my laptop. I am running 32 bit Vista.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion that something is not right. I am sure I will eventually find it. I have tried uninstalling, downloading, and reinstalling the driver a couple of times with a couple of different drivers. The one aspect of that I have had trouble with is getting Windows to not reinstall the drivers it thinks I should have when restarting after an uninstall. I read one place that using safe mode is a way to do that. I hope to try that soon.

Last night I used a different power connection option between the FX3700 and the power supply. This moved my Vista graphics score up to 3.0. There is one more variation I could try. I will see what that does later today.

If you can simply change a power connection and get a different GPU score, you have a power related problem. I'm not farmilliar with your PSU, but is it multiple rail? If it's got multiple rails, have you starved one rail? Unplug everything you don't need; does your performance increase?

I thought I would let you know that after contacting the power supply vendor they sent me a new unit and it seems to have solved the problem. I now get a score of 5.9 on everything except graphics and I get a 5.8 on that. Solidworks will now almost "twirl" a 500 component assembly in realview.
