This is a reletively trivial issue, but an issue nonetheless.
When listening to music while using SW 2007 SP5, there seems to be
an interference with the pull downs. This becomes particularly
irritating when inputing model specific properties. When selecting
'File', the first outline of the pull down appears, then the music
starts looping (about a 1 second loop) for about 5-10 seconds. Then
the menu appears, and the music resumes. This happens for each
successive menu as well.
The problem occurs using Winamp, or a dedicated player launched from a wesite, and soesn't seem to happen until I've been using SW for some time. Any ideas?

I've see this too. I even moved my music files to another harddrive and I still have the problem.
If you've read any of my previous threads on these subjects, I think it has to do with the nVidia drivers (yup, doesn't make any sense, does it!). I'm going to try a few things next week, and I'm hoping that getting better drivers eliminates the problem for me.
This will hopefully fix the problem of CTRL-TAB not working, editing dimensions coming up too slow, and this issue with other software.
Just to specify, this happens whenever you click on a menu, and the menu appears, correct?
Try turning off realview, does that make it better? How about running in Software OpenGL, does that eliminate it?
I am going to do a rigorous test sometime here soon, but as I have to do it on my work computer, I will have to schedule it around work.
Everyone thought i was nuts... Var didn't believe me since SWrx does not show the music/video player skipping etc...
Never did get a fix...
Still get some odd behavior too...
Even with a New Puter at that...
Now, my music stuff will just stop.. The time will still be ticking, but no sound..
Yet windows beeps and stuff still work.. just no music...
And occasionally, the Volume will change itself...
And finally, These oddities ONLY happen with SW running....
If SW not running, these things never happen...
Sorry to hear others having similar issues, But i'm glad to know i'm not just crazy...
One post mentioned all the overhead taken up with fancy Windows graphics, and speed could be had by turning some of it off (My Computer, right click/Properties/Advanced/performance). Selecting the radio button for 'Adjust for best performance' makes the interface look alot like Windows 3.11, but without all the transparent this, and animated that, things seem to be quicker (could be an illusion, but it appears more imediate). I reselected a few items like smooth fonts just to make things a little less stark.
I made the huge mistake of making two changes at once, so don't know which change made the biggest difference, but looking at annother post, I uninstalled Windows Desktop Search as well. It's something I never use, and others have said it causes some significant performance hits, so i nuked it.
the problem is still there, but to a much smaller extent. When a menu hangs, it only pauses for about a second now, with the audio loop one of about 1/10 of a second. It sounds more like a buzz, and is over quickly. So there seems to be something there.
The caveat; when uninstalling Windows Desktop Search, a warning box popped up saying that some apps may not work properly without WDS. The box listed nearly every app I have installed, and threw in a few Windows updates as well. This made the warning seem kind of bogus to me, so I uninstalled anyway. When I was directed to reboot the computer, I had a short panic attack when it didn't come back up! Just two black screens! I did a coupe f power off restarts with the same results. I finally used F11 Restore at bootup, and everything came back. It doesn't appear that I lost anything either. Don;t know what happened, but be careful when removing Desktop Search.
