We are currently using Adept for our document control
purposes. When an assembly is opened, if the user does not have the
children signed out (or owned) Adept makes a virtual, read-only
copy which allows the user to open the assembly with these parts.
Since switching from 2007 to 2008 we seem to have lost the
functionality to edit these read-only parts at the assembly level.
The user is aware that modifying these parts cannot be saved, but they would still like to edit the parts for testing purposes. SolidWorks presents an error message stating that the file is read-only (as it should be) and that before any editing can be done you need write access to the file (even though we don't want to save it).
Is there any option that can be tripped to allow the user to edit read-only parts without write access to them. Again, they will never save the parts they are working on.
Thanks!
