I'm trying to install SolidWorks on a brand new Dell laptop
wiith Windows XP Pro SP2.
I get an error message (screen shot attached) during the install process and the whole thing rolls back. I've gotten this with SP2 and SP3, installing from DVD and from the downloaded install manager. It's really annoying.
I've done some googling and it appears this is an microsoft installer related issue, but there isn't any solution I can find. I turned off all of the virus scanners, rebooted, chanted incantations and burned sage but it still fails.
Anyone have a suggustion?
Also, I don't see how to open a tech support case on the customer portal -- I'm properly registered and and look at my existing support requests (none yet), but I can't find a way to create a new request. I've been back and forth through the site and I'm stumped.
