I have an overlay that I managed to get the company logo attached to as a decal.

This overlay is part of a small assembly, which then gets assembled to a larger assembly.

The problem is that the decal disappears when I open both the large assembly and the smaller sub-assembly. It remains on the part at the part level.

To make it even more interesting, the decals "DO" show up on the large and small assemblies only when the part file is left open.

What is going on here?

<sarcasm on> And can we possibly make this any more difficult? <sarcasm off>
Is your drawing view set to shaded display?
I just had this problem happen to me last week. I dont know if the problem has been solved with latest version (i am on SP2008.2 and too lazy to upgrade). The issue i had was that the part with the decals was buried within several sub-assemblies. When i rendered the main assembly, the decals would not show up even though they were visiible in the tree.
The solution that i used was to drag (using the design tree) from the sub-assy to the main assy. After i reloaded and the decals showed up, then i re-drug the part down to its original sub-assy. THis seemed to fix the problem.
