Is there a way to link an Autocad drawing to a Solidworks
part? Some of our customers want Autocad drawings of our Solidworks
designs. It would be nice to link them together.
I don't think so. Sounds like an enhancement request.
I hate to sound like a broken record, but creating manual
parent/child relationships is not something new in the PDM world.
The most useful example is the instruction/installation MS Word
document that is manually linked to the SW assembly file as a child
of the assembly. That way, the system can prompt for a change or
check out for this related document when you make a change to the
linked assembly.
RMB part at top of feature manager design binder then link to
ACAD drawing as shown but make sure you link the drawing so it goes
with the part when you send it somewhere
Edit:
Also you can checkin ACAD drawings if they are visible in your file
explorer on the right just rmb the ACAD file an choose to checkin
then once it is in the vault you can attach it to your SW
part
