DWG Import to Top Plane

When opening a .DWG in Solidworks, by default it is placed in a sketch on the front plane. When I change the sketch plane to top, it seems to be placed on the bottom of the plane. To view it as it should be you have to look at it from the bottom view. I can mirror the entities and move on, except the text will not mirror. Is there a way to import directly to the top plane or can you control how the orientation is handled when you switch sketch planes?
