I would appreciate some guidance to install a new monitor.
I'm replacing an old 21" CRT with a new Acer 24" (AL2416W) wide
screen .
I hooked it up with the DVI cable that was included and the resolution set at 1920/1200. It looks lousy and the horizontal to vertical proportion is out of skew and there is a constant rapid flicker.
There is a disk that came with it with some software included but no instruction of what to install.
Can anyone with similar experience give me some pointers on the quickest way to make this thing work properly?
Could this be a video card not up to par? The computer says I have a Nvidia FX500/FX600. Any help appreciated.

Regards,
Set your refresh frequency to 60hz, your CRT was probably using 75-85hz.
Verify your video card can drive 1920x1200 with the DVI cable. You may need to stick with the standard VGA cable to achieve highest resolution setting with the lower end card you are running.
Unload your Nvidia drivers completely then download and install new version after restarting.
The monitor drivers can be installed by opening the systems device manager, right clicking on the generic monitor listed and select "update driver." A few prompts later it will ask for your CD.
