Just wanted to see what people thought about the differences
in these cards. We do parts and assemblies and drawings of these
items. No surfacing or weird graphics intensive things.
Any reason to upgrade to the 3700?? What are the biggest advantages?? Where will it help the performance the most by upgrading to the higher card??

The 1700 has a 128bit interface with a bandwidth of 12.8 GB/sec.
The 3700 has a 256bit interface with a bandwidth of 51.2 GB/sec.
The SPECviewperf rating in SW2001 for the 1700 is 56.12 and the rating for the 3700 is 77.95.
The 3700 obviously outperforms but depending on your model details and assembly sizes it would be hard to say which would be more worth your while. I tend to lean towards the upper end of the scale with graphics cards no matter what. If you have the funds I would go with the 3700, you may or may not need it right this moment but when you do it would be nice to have.
