I am currently running a Dell Precision 490 purchased 9/07. I want to upgrade the processor to the latest X54xx series. The computer has the Intel 5000X chipset and an E5335 quad core now, but I cannot for the life of me find anywhere that says if it will support the new line of Xeons. Even Dell can't help. According to Intel, THEIR boards support it, but who knows what brand board is in the 490.
