SW2008 and Excel versions

Finally fixed my access so I can get on the board here. We are getting ready (finally) to move to 2008 and I noticed under the minimum system requirements this little note....

If you use Bills of Materials from previous releases, or if you use Design Tables from any release, you must have Microsoft Excel 2002, 2003, or 2007

Many of our users are still at Excel 2000, and I'm wondering if anyone is having issues with that or if you must upgrade...IT does not always view these upgrades as needed, so I'm looking for some really world trials here.

I have enough issues with outdated graphics cards....I don't need Excel problems too.

I do not have personal experience with SW2008 and Excel 2000, but I believe it will probably work. Its probably listed that way because its a product thats no longer supported. That doesn't necessarily mean it won't work. Unless someone else has experience with it all you can do is install 2008 and see what happens before you commit it to production.
If you install it as a separate installation of Solidworks be sure that you use a separate data and toolbox file or you won't be able to use yor older version hole wizard, etc.

Thanks Jeff, I've already come to that conclusion. I've gone through enough upgrades, enhancements, video cards, drivers, OS to make your head spin.

I'm just looking for the "real world" stories at the moment. We have alot of users that will be unhappy if things don't run.....

The attached screen shot is a SW 2008 SP2.1 drawing of a 2007 Assembly drawing that had a BOM for the assembly. It looked and worked well with the original BOM when upgraded. I deleted the BOM and inserted a new one -- OK.
I then inserted a part view and added a Design Table and BOM --OK
I had to go into Options/Tables and tick the box for Keep Missing Items (as that function is no longer listed in the Property Manager for the BOM.) to add lines for the configurations of the parts.
The BOMS and Design table are from SW not Excel but everything worked as it should. All tables were fully parametric.
I have Excel 2000.

Edit:-- The first picture doesn't show the added line for the part BOM. I did this after I took the screen shot. For some reason the second configuration is not showing a value for Qty.
