Architectural Renderings

I have to do some architectural renderings and have been told the use of SolidWorks is preferrable, now i will be building the model in SW, but is it really up to the rednering side, or should i export to Autodesk VIZ (which we'd need to purchase) and render them?

PhotoWorks will do the rendering but it will take some work. PhotoWorks doesn't include a lot of textures and materials geared for architecural renderings out of the box. You can make your own, it will just take some time. PhotoWorks also doesn't support plants, trees, people, cars etc like VIZ or 3D Studio would. You'd have to add these elements in a post rendering operation in PhotoShop (or whatever).

  Are you doing exteriors or interior design stuff? I do mostly interiors and have found that i can pretty much compete with most packages. The renderings may not be top quality like a maxwell render, but i make up for it in speed (which is more critical in my customers).
  
  Like Rob said, i still have issues with vegetation and humans.
