Ownership changing on it's own in Vault

I am having a problem that started just yesterday. As I am building an assembly the parts that I am putting in the assembly and am moving to location are changing from read only and not owning to my owning the part.

Has anyone had this happen.

SW 2008 SP 1.0

In the PDMWorks options do you have Keep ownership check (under the checkin options).

  Yes, I do. But that is for parts I am checking in. This is happening to parts that I am not checking in and that I don't have ownership of. Parts that I pull out of the vault and insert into an assembly.
  Unless something has changed I have the correct settings. This has always been checked for us for the past 4 years.

    Hi Guys -
    
    Can you give me a little more info on this? Are you sure that the parts are opened in SolidWorks as read-only? If yes, can you tell me if you are using the PDMWorks Vault Setting 'Bind ownership to SolidWorks read-write / read-only access' ?

      Thank you for testing the option. I was trying to localize and identify the issue.
      At this point I would recommend that you call your VAR and ask them to open an SR so that the problem can be reviewed further.

        My issue was caused by the System Option/External References/ under assemblies Automatically generate names for referenced geometry. Some who it was turn on. When it is one it takes ownership in the vault. As soon as I unchecked the box. Things went back to normal.
        
        I am not sure how it got turned on. Looking thru my setup files it was off.
