In 2007 edition, there are "Row up" and "Row down" function
in BOM Contents.
Are these functions still available in 2008 edition?
It is useful to assign a part to an item number.

You can't whip the thing up the bom.
I myself would prefer to have the move-up move-down buttons back.

They do need to improve performance of reordering them in large BOMs however this was a problem with the previous method as well.
I expand the left side of the bill and try to grab the row header to move up or down and I cannot get them to move at all.
Hi Jason,
I'm going to Agree & Disagree with you.
Agree - The new drag & drop method is a cleaner (or one) interface.
Disagree - I can reorder very fast. If you select & drag and move down a couple four or five lines, you can watch the highlighted row walk up or down the BOM. However, if you select a row and then position your cursor 25 rows away, it will literally jump to that position.
So, I guess what I'm saying is that the new interface and how it functions are both improvements in ease and performance.
Please give a little more detail on how you are able to get the rows to jump. I am in a BOM right now and I can not get it to jump. I have to walk it down slowly to get it to move.
SW are you listening???
Kirk,
As I said earlier: "Select a row and then position your cursor 25 rows away, it will literally jump to that position."
On a "D" size drawing were I can list approximately 70 items, I can select row one, then slide down to row sixty-eight and the item will pop right into place.
Maybe I'll do a quick video because I cannot believe people are even having problems with this new reordering technique and I'm doing this on a laptop using SW08 SP0.0
I am unable to make it jump
would be lovely to do, though
Reply to all who cannot move/reorder BOM items quickly,
I created a rough video (not much experience here) of reordering item no. 1 to item no. 77. As you'll see, the component hesitates a bit but then jumps to the location of the cursor. This was done on a laptop with crappy graphics card using SW08, SP0.0.
A couple of things to mention here:
#1 - I am by no means happy with the overall fuctionality & lack of capability in the SW Table Based BOMs.
#2 - The capability shown in the vid-clip does not work if you have a "split" BOM and need to go from one section to another.
#3 - The capability shown in the vid-clip does not work well or is very sporadic if you have an "indented" style of BOM.
The only thing vid-clip shows is the jumping capability that I discussed earlier.

I have tried now a million times and I can not get your results. I use 6 point text in my BOMs so maybe that is a problem?
Thanks for your video anyway
Did I miss something obvious??

I'm sorry guys,
Like I said, I'm just as confused as you are because this function works just fine for me.
So, just to clarify:
=> Follow assembly order must be turned off.
=> What is happenning in the video is I am LMB selecting the row to be moved. I do not release the LMB. I slide down to the position I want, wait about a second and when the row "pops" into place, I release the LMB. ...that's it!
...then again, maybe Kelvin's right, maybe this function has been "corrected".
Mine works as you describe. It is pretty fast to on my laptop.
I like the new BOM re-order functionality, way better then before in my mind.
Cheers,
Kelvin,
Once again, you could be on to something, as my laptop's graphics card does not support Open GL, therefore, my Performance setting is "Use software OpenGL".
Anna,
Is this the case with your laptop?
