Hopefully someone here can give me a bit of info on how or if
there are some settings I can tweak to get some better performance
with the setup I have. First off, here's the specs:
Processor : Intel D 840 - 3.2 Ghz - running in dual core mode
RAM : 2GB DDR2 667 Mhz running in dual mode
Video Card: ATI FireGL V5600 - 512MB (dual monitor - Resolution 1600x1200 32bit and 1024x768 32bit)
driver 8.391.2.1110 (downloaded from solidworks)
I did Anna's test and came up with total rebuild time of 363.22 seconds, that is with verification on rebuild off and level of detail set close to the 'less' side.. Not sure what else I can do, it just seems that it should be running a bit faster than that.
I also get some strange effects on some basic assemblies when moving or zooming the display. Some parts/sub-assemblies will just turn into blocks, and sometimes will just disappear until I do a rebuild.
Attached is a zip file of a screenshot of the system options - performance tab, a dxdiag.txt log, a cpuz.htm log from cpuz, and the benchmark from Anna's part.
Hopefully someone can shed some light, or at least a little flicker

Not much you will be able to do I suspect with the old Intel P4 cpu architecture.

As you can see the newer Intel Core 2 Duo's and Quad's are oddles faster.
Cheers,
