OS recommendation, Vista or XP?

We're planning to upgrade from SW07 to SW08 & we're are going to buy a new work station to put this on. I'm currently working on XP but I'm just curious if there are any benefits to switching to Vista? Also are there any known problems with Solidworks working with Vista?

Vista, I believe is still a bad word right now...

Not AS bad as it once was, but you can't go wrong with XP pro 32.
And xp64 if you REALLY need allot of memory...

And the debate about [pc-vs-mac] is still out...

I'm staying with XP for at least the next year, it will be supported until April 2014 for the die hards. Microsoft will release SP3 for XP this year (you can download the pre-release now), the last SP for XP supposedly with some security improvements and improve stability.

XP for sure. I made the big mistake of switching to Win2000Pro quite soon after it was released and faced many headaches as a result. Vista is worse by comparison on several fronts.

Also, you may well get to avoid Vista altogether if Microsoft ever gets back to their regularly-scheduled OS releases again--which would be a nice blessing.
