SW2008 and Spaceball 4000

After upgrading to SW2008 the Spaceball 4000 stopped working. We have loaded new drivers but that did not help. Has anyone ran into this?

I did another workstation that has a Space Explorer and it works fine.

I did see this after upgrading our workstations. However the new drivers did work.
Note: Space Pilot and Spaceball 5000.

Another thing to look for with Spaceballs. If you are installing 2008 on a new computer that hasn't had SW or the 3d drivers, then the commands that are on the toolbars will be the only ones available for the button mapping. If you look at the view button in 2008 it only has about 6 commands available which are the default menu options on the SW VIEW toolbar. You have to ADD the commands to the toolbars to get the missing button choices.

  Just for reference, I've been able to get three Spaceball 3003C's (Serial) up and running with SW 2008, using their existing drivers (version"3-6-3"? from back in 2004), and using the SW plug-in-only from the Spaceball 5000 USB driver file (3.5.6 was the current version available for the 5000-USBat the 3DConnexion 'site).
  
  It's worked very well for me.
  
  Also used the same set-up to get a 5000-Serial working with SW 2008.
  
  Just thought I'd mention that the 2.8.2 is not the only driver version that will work with this "hack" for older Spaceball models.

    I've just discovered the same problem with our SpaceBall 4000 FLX can anyone post the driver 3.4.2 or slightly later. I can't seem to get them going with the latest driver.
    
    3D connexions have kindly not bothered to leave old drivers on the download page

      I have two versions but they can't be uploaded here....3DxSoftware_v3-3-6.exe and 3DxSoftware_v3-2-2.exe. I would be more than happy to share them with you or anyone else, we just need to find other means to do so.

If you go to 3dconnexions sight and choose the Spaceball 5000 SERIAL for windows XP, you can download the 2.8.2 driver, then choose the Spaceball 5000 USB and download the 3.5.6 driver. Then install the 2.8.2 driver complete for all the programs that you need it for. Then install the 3.5.6 driver and ONLY choose the Solidworks addin and NOTHING ELSE and you should be able to use your "ANCIENT" serial Spaceball with 2008

  When you mean don't install anything else does that mean the picture viewing software. I keep trying the work around and still no results.
  
  I spoke to 3D connexions (support) line and they informed me that SolidWorks are no longer supporting SpaceBall 4000 and that's why they don't work.
  
  I've got some Space Explorers on order so hopefully things will be resolved.
