Removing static license from dead CPU

I had a workstation with a standalone SolidWorks license. I say "had", because the mainboard is now completely fried. The whole computer is junk and has been replaced. However, I cannot install SW on the replacement machine, because the license is still locked to the old computer. How do I release it??

You will have to contact SW support. They should be able to de-activate the old license.

It was my understanding that the license is store on the hard drive. Maybe in a boot sector or something, I think you could even format it and it still be there. You could insert the hard drive into the new computer and see if it reads it.

Stephen,
Call your VAR. Recently I had my laptop stolen in a burglary and I reported it to my VAR. He deactivated the computer name that was on my old computer and told me to download the software again and disregard the warning because it was only a warning and not an error.
